Celebrating Our 4th Anniversary
October Marks our 4th year in business
We’re very excited to announce that on October 1, 2021 Adult Speech Therapy Services celebrated our 4th Anniversary. During our four years in business we have treated hundreds of clients! It has been an honor to work with so many motivated individuals. It’s our mission to help each client reach their communication goals!
changes over the years
In just four years, our small practice has been through many changes. In October of 2017 we started out as a mobile practice with just one clinician. It was an exciting milestone to move into our brick and mortar clinic in November of 2019. Unfortunately, just four months later the COVID-19 pandemic shut the doors of many businesses all over the world, including ours. In order to continue providing quality speech therapy services during the pandemic, we started offering telehealth services. That turned out to be a wonderful addition to our practice. We were now able to reach adults in need of speech therapy across the state of Maryland! Due to the overwhelming research that supports using telehealth for speech therapy we will continue to offer telehealth services indefinitely.
In the last year, we also added another therapist to the practice. Beryl Herda is a speech-language pathologist and Certified Brain Injury Specialist. She has over 10 years of experience. With the addition of Beryl, we are now offering a new clinical service as well. Using Beryl’s exportice in the area of swallowing treatment, and after renting additional space in our building, we have expanded our practice to include a dysphagia suite. We are using cutting-edge technology to treat clients with swallowing disorders and get them back to eating and drinking safely and more comfortably.
what’s to come in the future?
It is a priority for our practice to always use the best treatment techniques. New research supports the use of the LSVT Loud technique, originally designed for people with Parkinson’s disease, with other diagnoses that affect speech intelligibility. Those diagnoses include Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. We’re excited to have an opportunity to use the highly researched, and effective, LSVT Loud program to help more people.
